The Federation

A lineage, not just a dojo.

Modern Martial Arts Karate-Do Federation of India — established 1983 at Patratu, Jharkhand, India. Teaching Shotokan Karate through three generations of senseis.

Our Story

Four decades on the mat.

MMAKF was founded in 1983 by Shihan Pramod Kumar Pathak, direct inheritor of the Shotokan Karate-Do in India. What began as a single training hall in Patratu grew into an institutional federation — at its peak running structured karate programs across more than 130 schools, with thousands of students each quarter.

The federation has produced national champions, WKF-registered athletes and coaches, 34 active black belts, and record-book recognition — while never departing from its core: authentic Shotokan Karate-Do, transmitted the traditional way, one grading at a time.

Today MMAKF trains students in the hombu dojo, through partner schools, and worldwide through its Online Academy — the same syllabus, the same standard, everywhere.

Sensei Dhiraj's kata classes transformed my technique completely. Training at MMAKF is different — the lineage, the discipline, the system. You feel it the moment you step on the mat.

As a parent, I was amazed how quickly my daughter's confidence grew under Sensei Sumitra Devi's women's program. MMAKF is truly a life-changing institution.

I trained in three academies before MMAKF. Nothing compares to training under Shihan Pramod Pathak. This is authentic martial education.

Train with MMAKF

Begin your Karate-Do.

From one student to a school training hundreds, MMAKF delivers structured Shotokan through a national network. Tell the federation what you need and it goes to the unit that handles it.

  1. Say who the training is for An individual, a school, a university, a company, a government body or a community organisation. The federation asks different things of each.
  2. Answer what is needed to price it The same questions the training office would ask — roughly how many people, where you are, and what you want run. It saves as you go, so you can stop and come back to it.
  3. Keep a reference and a status link Your request reaches the training office against a reference, and you get a link that shows where it has actually got to.

Fees depend on what you need — the federation quotes against your own requirements rather than a price list. Would rather not use a form? Write to admin@mmakf.in with your institution, roughly how many people, and where you are.
